Indian colts took a first innings lead of 263 runs before restricting under-19 England side to 140 for six in their second innings to head for a series win on the third and penultimate day of the second 'Test' at Eden Gardens in Kolkata on Saturday.
The visitors, who continued their poor display with the bat, need 123 runs to save an innings defeat on the final day on Sunday.
Resuming at overnight 337 for five, the hosts picked up quick runs and declared their innings at 410 for 8 in 79.3 overs.
The overnight not out batsmen Aditya Jain (54) and Gaurav Dhiman (41) made a 96-run partnership for the sixth wicket.
For the visitors, Ben Harmison was the most successful bowler with a figure of 4 for 58.
Starting their second innings with a deficit of 263 runs, the tourists again fell to stand up to the challenge and lost quick wickets.
Skipper Steven Davies, however, showed some character in his patient knock of 66 (204m, 158b, 12x4) and scored 74 runs partnering Moeen Ali (batting 36) for the fifth wicket, before edging a ball to Pinal Shah off Harvinder Singh delivery.
With a win on Sunday, the Indian boys, who had registered a 293-run win in Bangalore, would pocket the three-'Test' series against the England.
