Australia captain Michael Clarke has surpassed the run-scoring feat of Australia batting great Don Bradman after completing 7,000 Test runs during the first Test against India in Chennai on Friday.

Michael ClarkeBradman is revered as cricket's greatest batsman after plundering 6996 runs at 99.94, but Clarke went past The Don at the MA Chidambaram Stadium.

Clarke could also leapfrog the majestic Chappell (7110 at 53.86) into ninth spot on Australia's Test run-scoring list if he strikes 122 runs in the series opener, a realistic feat given the skipper's red-hot form.

Clarke enjoyed a domineering 2012, blasting 1595 runs at 106.33, but there are concerns that he could be burdened by leading a team in India without Ponting and Mike Hussey.
