After his highly successful stint with the national team that yielded three World Cup titles, John Buchanan has accepted a new role which will see him coaching the coaches in Australia.

Buchanan, who took over as the ambassador for Cricket Coaches Australia, said after retiring as Australia's coach he has been looking to stay involved in cricket in some form and hence is elated with his appointment.

"The importance of coaching to the health of Australian cricket is something I am passionate about and I hope to use my experience to shape the next generation of coaches around Australia, " Buchanan said.

"I have a passion for coaching and a strong desire to educate coaches in providing a safe, fun and inclusive environment for their players," he said.

Buchanan took sections of the media through an Orientation to Coaching session at the Gabba after which he quipped: "It was quite enjoyable today to see some of the media work up a sweat, as they were often responsible for me working up a sweat when I was national coach."

Cricket Australia (CA) Chief Executive Officer James Sutherland hailed Buchanan's appointment and said, "John Buchanan is arguably the most successful coach in Australian sports history, so it is a tremendous asset for Cricket Australia to retain his knowledge and passion for coaching.

"John will have an active role in working with volunteer coaches at the local level and also promoting the importance of coach education programs and CCA membership," he said.

Buchanan's new role would see him conduct coaching seminars around Australia, apart from shaping the direction of coach education.
