West Indies legend Brian Lara will team up with some of Australia’s finest players like Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden, Adam Gilchrist, Justin Langer and Glenn McGrath for the Australian Legends XI, which will take on Big Bash League champions Perth Scorchers in the Festival of Cricket match in Perth on Friday.

South African superstar Herschelle Gibbs and former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff will also be part of the Legends’ team.

Lara, who was recently part of Sachin’s Blasters in the Cricket All-Stars had also starred in last year’s edition, scoring an unbeaten 51 in a match the Scorchers ultimately won by 50 runs.

"This is an unbelievable opportunity for our players, especially our younger players, to come up against some of the most respected names in cricket," Langer had told Cricket Australia, when the second edition of the T20 match was announced in August.

"The experience they will gain from playing against these players and having the opportunity to speak with them on the day can only help them with their cricket," the former Aussie opener added.

Australian Legends XI: Adam Gilchrist (c), Ricky Ponting, Matthew Hayden, Justin Langer, Andrew Symonds, Michael Kasprowicz, Andy Bichel, Andrew Flintoff, Herschelle Gibbs, Glenn McGrath, Brian Lara.

Perth Scorchers: Ashton Agar, Cameron Bancroft, Jason Behrendorff, Michael Carberry, Marcus Harris, Brad Hogg, Michael Klinger, Simon Mackin, James Muirhead, Joel Paris, Ashton Turner, Andrew Tye, Sam Whiteman, David Willey.
