South African opener Herschelle Gibbs and spinner Nicky Boje are doubtful starters for the Test tour of India next month as the uncertainty over whether they will be questioned by Delhi Police over match-fixing allegations still persists.

"We have not yet heard anything from India," United Cricket Board spokesman Moabi Litheko said today.

He said documents signed by the two players had already been sent to the Delhi Police through the Indian High Commission in Pretoria.

"The team for India has not yet been selected and I'm not certain whether these players will be in the team or not," he said.

He also said he was aware of the disquiet expressed by Gibbs over the uncertainty.

Gibbs opted out of some provincial cricket engagements recently saying he was "feeling mentally tired."

"It is not a physical thing. For the last three weeks I have either been playing or practicing non-stop and I just need a break," he said while admitting the uncertainty over his participation in the team to travel to India had been troubling him.

The team for the tour of India, starting on November 14, will be selected at the end of the month. The team will travel to India on November 11 under new manager Goolam Rajah and new coach Ray Jennings.
