Bangladesh ‘A’ need something special on the third and final day to save the unofficial Test against India ‘A’ at the M Chinnaswamy stadium in Bengaluru.
At stumps on Monday, Day 2 of the match, the visitors were reeling at 36 for 2.
After India ‘A’ declared their first innings on 411 for five -- a lead of 183 runs -- the Bangladeshis ran into trouble immediately in their second essay as Anamul Haque was out without troubling the scorer and Soumya Sarkar out for 19.
Mominul Haque and Liton Das, unbeaten on 9 and 7 respectively then held on grimly before bad light ended play early.
Earlier, resuming at the overnight score of 161 for one in reply to Bangladesh’s of 228, the home side saw Shikhar Dhawan, unbeaten on 116 at stumps on Day 1, go on to score 150 before being dismissed by Saqlain Sajib.
There were also valuable knocks from Karun Nair (71) and Vijay Shankar (86) as the home side piled on the runs.
Nair and Shankar were involved in a 108 runs’ stand for the fourth wicket before wicketkeeper-batsman Naman Ojha (25 not outand Shankar put together a 71-run partnership for the fifth wicket.
