AP High Court issues notices to Muthaiah, BCCI

January 30, 2004 11:56 IST

The Andhra Pradesh High Court issued notices to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) and its former president A C Muthaiah in an appeal filed by former captain Mohammed Azharuddin against a lower court verdict upholding his disqualification from participation in Test cricket.

The division bench comprising Justice Bilal Nazki and Justice T Gopala Krishna directed Azharuddin's counsel to serve the notices personally, so that the appeal could be heard finally on March 9.

Azharuddin

had challenged BCCI's decision to disqualify him on the charges of match fixing.

However, the third additional civil judge, while upholding the disqualification, held that the former skipper could not establish as to how he was subjected to discrimination and how the enquiry conducted by the Board was vitiated by arbitrariness or non-application of mind.
