Australia have named the unchanged 12-man squad for the second Test of the three-match series against Pakistan beginning at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) on Boxing Day.

The Steve Smith-led side are going with the same side that clinched a nail-biting 39-run win after Pakistan's epic run chase in the opening day and night Test at the Gabba, cricket.com.au reported.

However, the Australian selectors would monitor how their leading bowlers have recovered from a gruelling Brisbane Test before deciding if any extra players are required to add for the second match.

Mitchell Starc bagged four wickets while Jackson Bird and Nathan Lyon clinched three and two wickets respectively as Australia bundled out Pakistan for 450 runs in their chase of a world-record target of 490 runs.

As Shaun Marsh is still recovering from a finger injury, Nic Maddison will once again get a chance to play against the Misbah-ul-Haq-led side.

The Australian squad for the Boxing Day match is as follows:

David Warner, Matt Renshaw, Usman Khawaja, Steve Smith (c), Peter Handscomb, Nic Maddinson, Matthew Wade, Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood, Nathan Lyon, Jackson Bird, Chadd Sayers.
