Australia coach Darren Lehmann is not in danger of being sacked despite losing the Ashes to England, Cricket Australia's chief executive James Sutherland confirmed.
Sutherland has backed Lehmann despite Australia's humiliating 3-1 loss to England in the Ashes, saying that the coach is not in danger of being sacked.
According to the BBC, when Sutherland was asked if Lehmann's job was safe, he responded with an emphatic ‘yes’.
Sutherland further said the entire Cricket Australia team and staff would sit down and review every overseas series in order to get better.
Lehmann's performance as coach and selector has come under scrutiny as Australia have lost three of their five Ashes series under his leadership.
Lehmann, who took charge in 2013, led Australia to this year's World Cup win, but the Test team have suffered three crushing defeats in this Ashes series.
On the other hand, Lehmann brushed off devastating Ashes series loss with an outing to Britannia Stadium to watch Stoke City against Liverpool in the English Premier League.
Fans had been unimpressed with Lehmann's plea for tickets to the match, saying he should be more focused on post-Ashes reflection rather than treating his time in England as a holiday.
