Andy Caddick reported to match referee

December 27, 2002 18:30 IST

England pace bowler Andy Caddick has been reported to the match referee following an incident during the second day's play of the fourth Ashes Test against Australia on Friday.

Caddick could be fined half his match fee for his reaction to being called for a no ball during the 14th over of the day's play.

The 34-year-old Somerset opening bowler, who took one for 126 from 36 overs in Australia's first innings total of 551 for six declared, had been charged with a level one offence, Australian Cricket Board spokesman Brian Murgatroyd said.

The charge includes using obscene language or making obscene gestures. Caddick was shown on national television gesturing to the boisterous Melbourne Cricket Ground crowd of 50,451.
