Australia to target Mithali Raj

India's impressive run in the women's World Cup so far has forced the four-time winners Australia to guard against complacency as the two teams get ready to clash at the Supersport Park, Centurion on Sunday.

Australia, undefeated in the tournament so far, declined to take any chances in the summit clash with their captain asking her players to be disciplined.

Captain Belinda Clark said her team would be targeting her counterpart Mithali Raj, who is in superb form averaging a tournament-high of 64 with the bat.

"They really rely on their opening bowlers, the spinners, and we'll need to be disciplined to survive them," Clark said.

"We'll be looking at seeing the back of her as soon as possible," Clark said of Mithali, whose unbeaten 91 from 104 balls helped India secure their first World Cup final berth on Thursday after beating fancied New Zealand by 40 runs at Sedgars Park in Potchefstroom.

Sunday's match will be the first time the teams have met since December, when Australia narrowly won a seven-match one-day series in India 4-3.

Australian coach Steve Jenkin said the team was looking forward to beat the Indians for the first time in the competition.

"The women are really keen to play them. They're the only team we haven't played and beaten yet," Jenkin was quoted as saying by a news website of Australia.

"They've beaten us more than any other side in the past four years. They're a better team now than they've ever been, they're a lot fitter, a lot more agile, and it's going to be a tough game."

The teams' round-seven match was washed out before a ball was bowled, meaning they have yet to meet in this tournament.

Jenkin said thoughts of the previous World Cup final, when Australia narrowly lost to New Zealand, would not interfere with the team's performance in the final. "We're not looking at four years ago, we're looking at Sunday," he said.

"We made a commitment to ourselves not to think about it or talk about it. It's in the past."
