Australian captain Steve Waugh won the toss and elected to bat first against India in the second Test at Adelaide.

Australia left out left-arm seamer Nathan Bracken and brought in Brad Williams as the only change to the team that played the first Test at Brisbane.

India made two changes with 19-year old left-arm fast medium bowler Irfan Pathan set to make his debut in place of Zaheer Khan who has been ruled out with a hamstring injury.

Leg-spinner Anil Kumble replaces off-spinner Harbhajan Singh who was diagnosed for a ligament injury in the spinning finger.

Virender Sehwag, Akash Chopra, Rahul Dravid, Sachin Tendulkar, V V S Laxman, Parthiv Patel, Ajit Agarkar, Anil Kumble, Ashish Nehra and Irfan Pathan Jr.

Australia: Steve Waugh (captain), Matthew Hayden, Justin Langer, Ricky Ponting, Damien Martyn, Simon Katich, Adam Gilchrist, Jason Gillespie, Brad Williams, Andrew Bichel, Stuart MacGill.

Umpires: David Shepherd (England) and Rudi Koertzen (South Africa).

Match-referee: Mike Procter (South Africa).
