Aus-Eng ODI to raise cash for flood victims

January 05, 2011 10:30 IST

Cricket Australia says the limited-overs cricket international between Australia and England at Brisbane on January 30 will be a fundraiser for victims of devastating floods in Queensland and New South Wales states.

Cricket Australia chief executive James Sutherland said all funds raised from the match would go the Queensland Premier's Flood Relief Appeal.

"We have all seen the devastation of the floods and feel for those affected in many communities in Queensland and New South Wales," Sutherland said.

More than a week of pounding rains have left much of northeast Australia under a sea of muddy water, causing loss of life and severe damage to homes and farmland.
