The victorious Indian Twenty20 World Cup team led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni will be felicitated at a specially organised ceremony at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Wednesday morning by the Board of Control for Cricket India in association with the Maharashtra Government.

The public felicitation of the squad, which beat arch foes Pakistan in a rip-roaring final to the inaugural edition of the tournament in Johannesburg on Monday, will be preceded by an open air motorcade of the team members from the international airport at Sahar, Andheri in North West Mumbai to the stadium in South Mumbai under the supervision of the Mumbai traffic police.

The 30-km long motorcade will proceed along the Western Express Highway to Mahim, Shivaji Park, Prabhadevi, Mahalaxmi, Peddar Road and onto Marine Drive before terminating at the Wankhede Stadium, the BCCI said on Tuesday.

BCCI president and Union Agriculture Minister Sharad Pawar would be among the senior officials of the Board who would be present at the airport to receive the team from South Africa along with officials of the state government, the release said.

The players' felicitation function will be held at around 1030am local time on the Wankhede Stadium lawns, BCCI said, adding that members of the public would be allowed entry into the stadium through the gates opposite Aaykar Bhavan (Income Tax Office) on Maharishi Karve road and the entrance on Marine Drive through the Netaji Subhash Road.
