Afridi hopes to lead Pakistan in England ODIs after recovery

Pakistan's flamboyant all-rounder Shahid Afridi is confident of recovering from a side strain before the One-Day and T20 series against England.

"I still have that side strain so when I get back to Karachi I will start rehabilitation and resume training to be prepared for the limited overs matches in England in September," he said.

Afridi, who has quit Test cricket, said he had no intentions of retiring from shorter version of the game.

"I will return to Karachi and start preparing for the One-Dayers and T20 matches in England, I am looking forward to that series. My ambition is to see that we do well in the World Cup which is a mega event for our people as well," Afridi told a TV Channel in Dubai.

Afridi congratulated his side for securing their first Test win over Australia in 15 years.

"I was delighted with the performance of the team and I wish I was also there to celebrate because this win over Australia has taken a long time coming. I called up all the players and congratulated them.

"I thought it was a terrific performance from them and it augurs well for the coming Test series against England. The youngsters are doing well," he said.
