After West Indies batting legend Vivian Richards hailed Virat Kohli's maiden double century, his son Mali Richards joined his father in praising the Indian Test skipper and gifted him a painting that captures a moment from his record innings in the first Test match in Antigua.

Richards junior, who played 18 first-class matches, went to the team hotel to meet Kohli and present a painting made by him and his artist friend.

"We decided to commemorate his maiden double hundred as he registered the milestone here in Antigua. We prepared the entire painting in just one day and came here to present it to him," Mali Richards told bcci.tv.

Kohli, who recently crossed the 3000-run mark, became the first Indian captain to score a double hundred away from home in Test cricket.

Earlier, Richards had termed Kohli's double ton as 'magnificent' and claimed he was pleased to witness it.

"I think it was a magnificent hundred. To score a double hundred at Sir Vivian Richards Cricket Ground is a formidable task in terms of what he has achieved. As a batsman myself, it was very pleasing to see and even though it was against the West Indies, I do appreciate seeing class and his was a classy knock."

Kohli's double century along with Ravichandran Ashwin's super all-round performance helped India thrash West Indies by an innings and 92 runs inside four days in the first Test in Antigua on Sunday.

Kohli cracked 200 off 283 balls, his first double century in Test cricket, to help India pile up an imposing 566 for eight in their first innings.
