A big challenge to bowl against Dhoni: Jadeja

December 16, 2015 19:27 IST

Ravindra Jadeja and Mahendra Singh DhoniIndia all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja, who will be pitted against his former Chennai Super Kings skipper, Mahendra Singh Dhoni, in the Indian Premier League later next year, believes bowling to India's limited-overs’ team  captain will be a big challenge.

Dhoni and Jadeja were playing for Chennai Super Kings but following Tuesday’s IPL Player draft, India’s wicketkeeper-batsman will head to Pune while the left-arm spinner will move to Rajkot, his home side, for the ninth edition of the T20 League.

Asked what he feels about bowling to Dhoni, the left-handed all-rounder replied: "It's a big challenge to bowl against Dhoni, particularly in shorter version of the game, as Dhoni has proved himself as the best finisher of the game, but I will do my level best to perform well."

The 27-year-old cricketer also hopes to play to his potential in the cash-rich league, which commences on April 9 at the Wankhede stadium in Mumbai.

"It's a different kind of feeling which cannot be expressed while playing for the home team and I hope that I will do well in the IPL.

“I have been selected in the Rajkot team as a good player and there is a chance for me to go further if I could play good cricket in the coming IPL season," said Jadeja, who initially played for Rajasthan Royals.
