Maharashtra opening batsman Rohan Bhosale's century went in vain as Baroda beat Maharashtra by four wickets in Rajkot on Saturday to qualify for the knockout stages of the Ranji Trophy one-day tournament along with Mumbai [Images].

Chasing 251 for victory, Baroda's top order batsmen clicked in unison as they cantered to victory with more than 10 overs to spare.

Kedar Devdhar (43), Ajahar Bilakhiya (55) and skipper Pinal Shah (66) were the major contributors as Baroda gained a bonus point after they chased down the target in just 39.4 over.

Earlier, Bhosale smashed 140 off as many deliveries, hitting 14 boundaries and two sixes but the rest of the batsmen failed to capitalise as Maharashtra were bowled out for 250 in 49.5 overs.

For Baroda, left-arm spinner Rajesh Pawar took three wickets giving away 52 runs, while Murtuza Vahora and Abhishek Karambelkar shared two wickets each.

In another match, Saurashtra edged past Gujarat by one wicket but failed to qualify for the knockout stages.

Chasing 268 to win, opener Chirag Pathak and Cheteshwar Pujara [Images] added 89 runs for second wicket but their wickets in quick succession set Saurashtra back.

Pratik Mehta made a late charge smashing 58 off 49 balls with four boundaries and two sixes as Saurashtra achieved the target in 48.4 overs.
