Chandigarh Lions pipped Chennai Superstars by eight runs in the Indian Cricket League Twenty20 [Images] Championship match at the Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad [Images] on Saturday.

Batting first, Chandigarh amassed 163 for eight in their 20 overs and then bagged wickets at regular intervals to restrict Chennai to 155 for eight.

Daryl Tuffey made the difference with the ball for Chandigarh as he claimed three for 13 in his four overs while Andrew Hall [Images] took three for 22.

Rajagopal Sathish (38 off 26 balls) and Russel Arnold (35 off 30) added 62 runs for the fourth wicket but lost their wickets just at the wrong time for Chennai.

Earlier, Matthew Elliott made 27 runs of 21 balls to give Chandigarh a fine start.

Left-hander Dinesh Mongia took charge in the middle overs with his blazing knock of 47 that included eight boundaries and a six in 29 deliveries.

South African Nantie Hayward took four for 21 to help restrict Chandigarh.
