Just days after making yet another comeback to the Indian team, Sourav Ganguly [Images] decided this will be his last.

The combative left-hander -- better known as an aggressive leader of men - who changed the face of Indian cricket forever during that chequered tenure, announced, on Tuesday, that he will quit cricket at the conclusion of the four-Test series against Australia [Images].

The Border-Gavaskar Trophy commences on Thursday with the first Test in Bangalore.

After being snubbed for the Rest of India squad in the Irani Trophy, a shadow was cast over Ganguly's international future. But the Board of Control for Cricket in India dispensed doubts by picking him for the first two Tests against the visiting Australians.

The over-publicised agenda against the seniors, prompted by the Board and carried forward by the media, seems to have claimed its first victim, with Ganguly putting a date on his retirement.
