England, who trailed New Zealand by 179 runs on the first innings, completed a remarkable recovery to reach 294 for four in their second innings on the fourth day. It was the highest winning total at Old Trafford.
Captain Michael Vaughan [Images] scored 48 and Kevin Pietersen [Images] was run out for 42.
The first Test at Lord's ended in a draw. The third and final Test starts at Trent Bridge in Nottingham on June 5.
