What does the stump microphone recording, a new element in the racial charge against Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh [Images], show?

According to The Australian, the new evidence in the recording does not pick up Harbhajan calling Aussie all-rounder Andrew Symonds [Images] a "monkey" during the second cricket Test in Sydney.

The recording was not produced before Mike Procter, the Match Referee for the Sydney Test, when he heard the Aussie team's complaint that Harbhajan had called Symonds a "monkey" for which he was banned for three Test matches.

The ban was kept in abeyance pending the conclusion of hearing of Harbhajan's appeal.

Only footage seen on television was available to Procter during the marathon hearing at the end of the Sydney Test. 

The new evidence is considered crucial to the outcome of Harbhajan's appeal against the ban since the enhanced footage is expected to be used during Harbhajan's appeal to be conducted in Adelaide in the next two days.

According to The Australian, The Channel Nine Network has stripped away the commentary and enhanced the stump microphone sound to pick up as much discussion as possible during and after the incident between Harbhajan and Symonds.

The newspaper said there is the sound of Michael Clarke [Images] strongly protesting to umpire Mark Benson about what Harbhajan had said to Symonds.

There is also a conversation between Matthew Hayden [Images] and Harbhajan where Hayden says "that's racial villification" before putting up his hand up and turning away from the spinner, it said.
