Left-arm pacer Pradeep Sangwan dished out a fiery spell to claim five wickets as India coasted to a convincing six-wicket victory over South Africa in their Under-19 cricket World Cup match in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday.
Electing to bat, the South African batsmen found the going difficult and were bundled out for only 149 runs in 30.1 overs.
In reply, India rode on fine knocks by opener Taruwar Kohli (54) and Tanmay Srivastava (47) to reach the winning target with eight overs to spare.
Sangwan started to unravel South Africa's innings when he trapped Pieter Malan in front off the second ball of the match with the Proteas still to open their account.
In the fifth over, the Delhi pacer castled the opener Jon-Jon Smuts (3) and two overs later, scalped Reeza Hendricks (12), who was caught behind.
Riley Rossouw (4) was caught by Ravinder Jadeja and Yaseen Vallie was cleaned up as Sangwan completed his assault with South Africa reduced to five for 45 in the 13th over.
Jonathan Vandiar (53) and captain Wayne Parnell (31) tried to rescue the Proteas and quickly garnered 64 runs for the sixth wicket.
Jadeja broke the partnership when he rushed through Parnell's defence in the 20th over.
Vandiar was stumped off Iqbal Abdulla and No 10 batsman Bradley Barnes (17) provided some late resistance before succumbing to Abdulla.
Kohli scored a 117-ball 54, including seven boundaries, and gathered 95 runs with Srivastava for the second wicket.
Srivastava was more entertaining as he struck five fours and a six in his 47.
Later, captain Viraat Kohli (25 not out) saw his side through after India lost three quick wickets.
For South Africa, Parnell captured two wickets for 27 runs.
Brief scores: South Africa 149 all out in 30.1 overs (J Vandiar 53, W Parnell 31; Pradeep Sangwan 5/44, Jadeja 3/23, I Abdulla 2/16) lost to India 153 for 4 in 42 overs (T Kohli 54, T Srivastava 47; W Parnell 2/27, R Adams 1/28).
