Statistical highlights of the opening day's play in the second cricket Test between India and South Africa in Motera on Thursday.
# Indian off-spinner Harbhajan Singh [Images] overtakes compatriot Bishen Singh Bedi to be third highest Indian wicket-taker in Tests.
# Harbhajan is leading wicket-taker on either side, with 11 wickets at 28.54 runs apiece.
# India's 76 is their second lowest completed innings total in India, next only to their 75 against the visiting West Indians at Delhi in 1987-88.
# India's total is their second lowest total against South Africa, next only to their 66 off 34.1 overs at Durban in 1996-97.
# The previous lowest total at Sardar Patel Stadium, Motera was India's 103 against West Indies [Images] in 1983-84.
# India's total of 76 off 120 balls (20 overs) is also their shortest completed innings in terms of balls at home - their second lowest in Test cricket.
# Dale Steyn (5/23 off only eight overs) registered his first five-wicket haul against India - his eighth five-wicket haul overall. His previous best bowling in an innings against India was 4-30 at Cape Town in January 2007.
# Steyn's latest figure are his best on foreign soil and his third best overall, next only to his 6 for 49 against New Zealand [Images] at Centurion last year and 6 for 72 against West Indies at Durban in January this year.
# Steyn's bowling figures are the best by any visiting bowler at Motera, surpassing Wayne Daniel's 5 for 39 for West Indies in 1983-84. England's [Images] slow bowler Ashley Giles is the only other bowler to capture 5 wickets in an innings (5/67) against India at this venue.
# In Indian innings, six players were dismissed as 'clean bowled', providing the sixth instance when six or more Indian batsmen have been dismissed in this fashion in an innings at home.
# Graeme Smith [Images], during the course of his innings of 34, became the first batsman to amass 700 runs in 2008 - 706 at an average of 78.44 in six Tests.
# India, for the first time, have recorded four ducks in a Test innings against South Africa, surpassing the 3 each at Durban in 2006-07 and at Chennai in 2007-08.
# Ganguly's fourth duck against South Africa is his 11th in Tests.
# Kallis registered his 48th fifty - his sixth against India. In 10 Tests against India, he has aggregated 796 at an average of 61.23.
# AB de Villiers hit his 14th fifty.
