Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary Niranjan Shah on Saturday said the selection committee to pick a new coach will meet in Bangalore on June 4 to finalise who the new man for the job will be.

"The coach's committee will meet on June 4 to select the coach. The process should be completed within the next three-four days," said Shah.

A four-member BCCI team, comprising president Sharad Pawar, administrative head Professor R S Shetty, secretary Shah and vice-president Rajiv Shukla, arrived in Chittagong on an invitation from the Bangladesh Cricket Board to watch the first Test between India and Bangladesh.

Shah denied that the top brass of the Board had come to talk to Bangladesh coach Dav Whatmore, who is in the fray for the coach's job.

"We have not come here to talk to Dav Whatmore. We have come here on the BCB's invitation to watch the game. We had come here hoping to see Sourav [Ganguly] and Sachin [Tendulkar] score a century," he added.

Shah said the process of selecting the new coach would be completed by June 10 as the team leaves for Ireland on June 20, followed a long tour to England.

"That's the reason we plan to complete everything by June 10 and then have a camp for five days in Bangalore before going off for the trip," he added.

India are looking for a successor to Australia's Greg Chappell, who quit after the disastrous showing in the World Cup.

Former all-rounder Ravi Shastri was named as cricket manager for the ongoing Bangladesh tour at BCCI's working committee meeting in Mumbai last month. Shastri has made it clear that he would not continue after the Bangladesh tour because of professional commitments.
