England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff will face a final fitness test on his injured left ankle on Thursday morning before the start of the first Test against West Indies.
"We are not going to know for certain until the morning," captain Andrew Strauss told a news conference on Wednesday.
Flintoff, who has already undergone two operations on the same ankle, reported soreness after playing for his county Lancashire at the weekend. His county team mate, pace bowler James Anderson, will join the England squad on Wednesday as cover.
England's new coach Peter Moores told a news conference Flintoff had bowled two short spells at the team's morning practice.
"His ankle is still sore," Moores said. "We will have to wait and see.
"We would like to have known definitely today but we don't. At the moment we've got a bit of time. It's getting better."
