Fast bowler Shoaib Akhtar [Images] and senior batsman Younis Khan on Saturday returned to the Pakistan squad that will play a one-off ODI against India in Scotland next month.
Pakistan will face India in Glasgow in a match that will be a fund-raiser for Prince Charles charity on July 3 besides playing a possible series against a World XI.
The 'Rawalpindi Express', who has not played an international tie since failing a dope test ahead of the Champions Trophy last October, was understandably delighted at his recall to the national team.
"I am relieved to be selected again for Pakistan. To be injured so consistently and be in and out of the team has been a difficult period for me. But I am looking forward to resuming my career again," Shoaib said from Abbotabad where the Pakistani players have been training for the last one week to prepare for the series.
"I want to be part of a team that is in a rebuilding process and plays three important Test series in the coming months against South Africa, India and Australia," he said.
Chief selector Salahuddin Ahmed said Shoaib was selected after being watched closely at the preparatory camp and came through on all counts.
"He is fit now and eager to resume his international career. He is hungry to represent his country and we wanted him back as he is an asset for any team," Salahuddin said.
Pakistan was also boosted with the return of Younis who went to England [Images] to play for Yorkshire immediately after the World Cup after refusing the Pakistan captaincy.
