A stunned Board of Control for Cricket in India on Monday said the Board's Working Committee meeting in Delhi on Tuesday will consider the situation arising out of Graham Ford's rejection of its offer to coach the Indian team for a year.
Reacting to Ford's decision, BCCI Treasurer N Srinivasan told reporters in Bangalore that the Board has received a message from him withdrawing his candidature and it would be placed before the Committee tomorrow.
"He has said that he would not join us now. He has withdrawn his candidature," Srinivasan said at a press conference, adding that "it is for the Working Committee to take an appropriate view now."
Asked what Ford told the coach selection committee in Chennai on Saturday when he was offered the job, Srinivasan said, "he had said that it was only a matter of letting us know when he would join the team."
Srinivasan said that they received the communication from Ford during the meeting with the senior players on the contracts issue.
"He said in the communication that he cannot take up the job at such a short notice."
