Maharashtra are in deep trouble at 148 for 6 in their second innings against Mumbai on the penultimate day of the four-day Ranji Trophy Elite Division Group B match at Golf grounds in Nashik on Friday.

Maharashtra were bundled out for 190 in their first innings in reply to Mumbai's mammoth total of 515.

Forced to follow-on after lunch, Maharashtra never looked comfortable. The only resistance was a fourth wicket stand, when 79 runs were added by Yogesh Takwale and Shridharan Shriram.

Takwale scored 52, inclusive of seven fours, before he was bowled by spinner Nilesh Kulkarni. After his departure Sriram continued to collect runs under pressure, but finally fell at 52, which included six fours and a six. He was stumped off Kulkarni's bowling.

Earlier, resuming their first innings at 99 for 4, Maharashtra were all out for 190, five minutes before lunch, in 71.2 overs.

Mumbai seamer Ajit Agarkar captured five for 41 in 22 overs in the first innings and also accounted for two wickets in the second edition giving away only nine runs.

Kulkarni took three for 38 in the second outing and only one wicket in Maharashtra's first innings. Spinner Ramesh Powar captured two wickets in the first innings, but is yet to pick one in the second.

Mumbai have already earned 10 points and a win against Maharashtra will confirm their place in the semi-finals of the prestigious national tournament.
