Tehlan pulls Delhi out of the woods

Mayank Tehlan scored an unbeaten 91 to pull Delhi out of the woods on the opening day of the four-day Elite Group 'A' Ranji Trophy match against Andhra at Vijayawada on Tuesday.

Electing to bat, Delhi lost openers Aakash Chopra (15) and Shikhar Dhawan (16) on 54 but Tehlan and Mithun Manhas stemmed the rot, putting in 67 runs for the third wicket before Manhas was dismissed by Mohd. Faiq.

At stumps, Delhi were 247 for five.

Manhas was out for 42, scored off 96 balls with five hits to the fence, while Tehlan stood his ground. Despite losing partners Kohli (33) and Rajit Bhatia (24), he played a patient innings on his way to an unbeaten 91.

Tehlan's 91 was scored off 196 balls, with 13 hits to the fence.

Aditya Jain, on 21, was at crease along with Tehlan when stumps were drawn for the day.

Kalyan Krishna struck in the latter part of the day, claiming two wickets, while Mohd Faiq dismissed Aakash Chopra and Manhas as the Andhra bowlers dominated the first session.
