Anil Kumble, India's lone century-maker in the three-Test cricket series against England [Images], emerged with the highest batting average for the victorious visiting team.
He averaged 54 to top the batting averages chart after scoring an unbeaten 110 in the first innings of the
third and final Test. He aggregated 162 runs in the series that India won 1-0.
The veteran leg-spinner also picked 14 wickets, including a haul of 6-136, for the second highest tally after paceman Zaheer Khan [Images] (18) in the series.
Dinesh Karthik, however, topped the batting aggregates with 263 runs followed by Sourav Ganguly [Images] (249), Sachin
Tendulkar (228), Mahendra Singh Dhoni [Images] (209) and VVS Laxman (205).
Captain Rahul Dravid's [Images] dubious record of 12 off 96 balls in the second innings at the Oval pushed him to a lowly eighth
with 126 runs at an average of 25.20.
The batsman of the series, however, was - without any doubt - Kevin Pietersen [Images].
Pietersen, who scored two centuries in the series, aggregated 345 runs at an impressive average of 57.50, the
highest for either sides.
Not far behind the South Africa-born player was England skipper Michael Vaughan [Images] who notched up 295 runs at 49.16.
James Anderson, with 14 wickets, and Chris Tremlett (13) were the best bowlers for England while Monty Panesar [Images] (8)
failed to be a decisive factor.
