-The wicket of Dwayne Smith was 250^th for Brett Lee [Images]. He became 15^th bowler in all and third Australian after Glenn McGrath (333 wickets in 226 matches) and Shane Warne [Images] (293 wickets in 194 matches) to do so.

-By taking just 139 games Lee became the second fastest after Pakistan's Saqlain Mushtaq to reach this landmark. Saqlain had taken his 250^th wicket in his 138^th game. However Lee is the quickest in terms of balls taken to accomplish this feat taking only 7113 balls as against Saqlain's 7219 (calculated upto the completed innings).

-The fifth wicket partnership of 137 runs between Runako Morton and Brian Lara [Images] is best for West Indies [Images] for this wicket against Australia. The pair obliterated the 98-run stand between Lara and Chanderpaul at Melbourne in January 2005. Incidentally this was only the 12^th century partnership for fifth wicket for any side against Australia and sixth highest of alltime.

-Adam Gilchrist became only the third batsman in ODI history to hit 1,000 fours in a career when he edged Ian Bradshaw through vacant slip to hit fourth four of his innings. Gilchrist joined India's Sachin Tendulkar [Images] (1536) and Sri Lanka's [Images] Sanath Jayasuriya [Images] (1242).

-Gilchrist (92) became a victim of nervous ninety for the sixth time in his career. With this he equalled the tally of Dean Jones for Australia. Among the wicket-keepers, Gilchrist is head and shoulder above of the rest. His six instances are followed by England's [Images] Alec Stewart, Zimbabwean Andy Flower and Sri Lankan Romesh Kaluwitharana.

-Gilchrist's knock of 92 runs off 120 balls (SR 76.66) should be ranked slower by his standards. In fact it was his slowest innings where he faced 100 or more balls. Interestingly on all other occasions he ended up on winning side.

-Gilchrist's innings of 92 runs is the highest by any batsman at this ground, obliterating Morton's unbeaten 90 made in the first innings of this match. Stephen Fleming [Images] had made 89 on October 16 in the match against South Africa. Before that the record was held by Pakistan's Shoaib Mohammad with 73 against Australia on 23-10-1989.

-It was only the second time that Australia lost a match in which Gilchrist scored 75 or more. The only other such instance was against India at Gwalior on 26-10-2003, when Australia lost despite Gilchrist's 83.

-After Morton and Lara added 137 runs for the fifth wicket, Gilchrist and Clarke put on 101 runs also for the 5th wicket. This provided the first ever instance in ODI history of both sides putting on century partnerships for the fifth wicket in the same match.

-Jerome Taylor claimed a hat-trick spread over two overs by dismissing Mike Hussey, Brett Lee (off last two balls of his ninth over) and Brad Hogg [Images] (off first ball of his tenth over). He became first West Indian bowler to claim a hat-trick.

-It was also the first ever hat-trick in Champions Trophy - third against Australia (Jalaluddin and Wasim Akram are the others to do so), third on the Indian soil (after Chetan Sharma & Kapil Dev [Images]) and 22^nd in all ODIs.

-The victory was West Indies' fifth against Australia since World Cup 2003 - most for any side. West Indies were earlier at level with South Africa and Sri Lanka with four wins each.

-Man of the match award was Morton's first in 23 matches.
