After conceding a 239-run first innings lead to Hyderabad, Mumbai were 108 for three on the penultimate day of the four-day Elite Group B Ranji Trophy cricket match at the Uppal Stadium in Hyderabad on Tuesday.

Resuming at 253 for 5, the hosts coasted to 354 in reply to Mumbai's first innings score of 115 with D Vinay Kumar hitting a century and Ibrahim Khaleel logging 68 before spinner Ramesh Powar [Images] swept through the middle order to claim 7 wickets for 89 runs.

The visitors still have a deficit of 131 runs with seven wickets in hand and one day's play left. Opener Vinayk Mane (33) and R Sharma (33) were at crease when stumps were drawn.

Overnight batsmen Vinay Kumar and Ibrahim Khaleel added 126 runs for the sixth wicket before the latter was caught by Amol Muzumdar off Powar for a steady 68 with three fours.

Vinay lost two more partners before he was bowled by Powar for 103 laced with ten hits to the fence and one six. Vinay blended his experience to stay put and take the team to a daunting total as the side crumbled under Powar's power.

He spun a magic web to take all the five wickets of the day but could not save Mumbai from conceding a massive lead of 239 in the first innings.

Starting 239 runs behind, the visitors were pushed on the backfoot as youngster Absolem took three quick wickets.

Skipper Muzumdar was out for 9. Only Mane played with caution and his 33 runs came off 138 balls with just two hits to the fence. Sharma was more enterprising as he cracked five fours to leapfrog to 33 in 70 balls.
