A whirlwind century by opener Robin Uthappa was aided by a fine bowling performance by the Karnataka bowlers, placing them on the threshold of an outright victory against Haryana on the third day of the Ranji Trophy Super League tie in Mysore on Sunday.

After taking a 113-run first innings lead, the former champions reduced Harayana to 34 for five in the second innings while chasing a victory target of 366.

Sunil Joshi and paceman R Vinay Kumar took two wickets each to leave the visitors reeling in the second essay. At close, Shafik Khan was the not out batsman on seven after stumps were drawn with the wicket of Sachin Rana after 12.5 overs.

Earlier, Uthappa slammed 13 fours and two sixes for 108 runs from 103 balls. Along with opening partner Barrington Rowland (96) he set up the game for Karnataka as the duo scored 211 runs in 31.4 overs.
