Experienced middle-order batsman Sitanshu Kotak's unbeaten half-century and his 93-run stand with opener Sagar Jogiyani helped Saurashtra reach 122 for two against Baroda's 406 on the second day of their Ranji Trophy Elite Group match.

ogiyani and  Kotak came together after opener Kanaiya Vaghela (2) made an early exit, and the duo gave much needed stability to the innings.

The partnership was broken when Jogiyani (58) failed to cope with Rajesh Pawar's sharp turn and was caught in the slips by Jacob Martin. 

Kotak was unbeaten on 53 in the company of nightwatchman Kamlesh Makwana when stumps were drawn.  The hosts are trailing by 284 runs with eight wickets in hand.

Irfan Pathan [Images] Sr and Rajesh Pawar took a wicket each for Baroda.

Earlier, the visitors, resuming at their overnight 267 for five, started aggressively and added 139 runs in the opening session, before being bundled out six minutes before lunch.

Overnight batsman Conor Williams was unlucky to miss his double century by just two runs. He was trapped leg before wicket by R Dhruv.

For Saurashtra, left-arm seamer S Jobanputra claimed four wickets conceding 91 runs and was well supported by S Natkan and R Dhruv, who took two wickets each.
