The Board of Control for Cricket in India has formed a three-member review committee to go into the effectiveness of last season's players' contracts, which have expired, and submit a report to the Board for the 2005-06 season.

The committee, comprising BCCI treasurer Jyoti Bajpai, joint-secretary Gautam Dasgupta and executive secretary-in-charge Ratnakar Shetty, will compile a report and send it to BCCI secretary S K Nair, Board sources said on Wednesday.

"No time frame has been fixed for the matter. The committee has to compile a report on how the contracts have worked and whether there was any need to change any existing clauses and send it to the Board secretary," the sources said.

"If there's a camp before the Sri Lanka [Images] series it would help the committee members to have a discussion with the senior players before preparing the report," they added.

Last season, 17 players were given contracts by the Board after dividing the lot into three groups, with the annual retainership pegged at Rs 50, Rs 35 and Rs 20 lakh per player respectively, depending upon which grade they belonged to.

The committee's report would be discussed by another committee, comprising the Board chief, secretary (also its convener), team coach and selection committee chairman, before the contracts are finalised, the sources added.

The new international season commences with the home series against Sri Lanka on October 25.
