The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed Zee Telefilms' petition challenging a Madras High Court order upholding the BCCI's decsion not to award the telecast rights to the TV channel.

On May 2, a division bench of the Madras high court had upheld BCCI's decision to cancel the tender process for awarding telecast rights for international cricket matches till 2008. The Bench set aside a Single Bench order on March 21 which held that the cancellation was "improper."

The Single Bench had directed the BCCI to call for fresh tenders and permitted Zee Telefilms Ltd and ESPN to participate in the fresh tender proceedings. But the division bench held that records clearly demonstrate that there was no concluded contract between Zee Telefilms Ltd and the Board.

The Division Bench allowed an appeal by the BCCI challenging the Single Bench order directing it to call for fresh tenders. The Bench also allowed an appeal by Dalmiya against the Single Judge's remarks against him.
