Inzamam-ul Haq, who is facing a lot of flak for Pakistan's dismal showing in Australia, has been assured by the Pakistan Cricket Board that he will lead the team on the upcoming tour of India and complete his full term.
The assurance was given by PCB chairman Shaharyar Khan when Inzamam called on him on Friday morning to appraise him about the Australian tour.
The forthcoming tour of India was also discussed in the meeting, which was held at the Gaddafi stadium in Lahore [Images].
"Yes, Mr Shaharyar assured me that I will complete my captaincy term. He also advised me to ignore the criticism and concentrate on the India tour," Inzamam said from Lahore.
"I didn't specifically ask him about captaincy. The subject was touched by the PCB chairman himself," he added.
Inzamam has been appointed Pakistan captain till the West Indies [Images] tour, scheduled in June.
Several former Pakistani players including Imran Khan [Images] have said Inzamam is not captaincy material and urged the PCB to appoint a new captain.
Inzamam said the PCB chief was satisfied with the team's performance.
"But, naturally, Shaharyar Khan wants improvement and hopes that if the youngsters showe commitment, hard work and dedication, they would be able to put up a good performance in India.
"Yes, we discussed the Indian tour in detail. But that is something between myself and the chairman," he said, when asked to specify the issues discussed during the meeting.
