India's left-arm seamer Irfan Pathan [Images] was ruled out of the NKP Salve Challenger Series limited overs tournament following a groin injury, on Monday.

Pathan, who skipped the Deodhar Trophy zonal one-day league competition because of a side strain, suffered the injury during practice on Sunday evening.

Bengal seamer Ranadeb Bose was named as Pathan's replacement in the India Seniors side.

Pathan's injury, however, is not serious and the 20-year old even came on as substitute for Yuvraj Singh [Images] for a brief period during the India 'A' innings.

Pathan will go through rehabilitation work with John Gloster, the new Indian team physiotherapist, who took from Andrew Leipus on Monday.

An exact date for the bowler's return to action is not known though.

Chairman of selectors Kiran More said Pathan's injury is not serious and there is nothing to worried about.

"He is absolutely fine. He was bowling in the nets yesterday, but after a strenuous workout he felt some stiffness in the abdomen today, so we did not want to take a risk and he was rested," he said.
