Poor weather in city had restricted the first day's play to 10.1 overs, the home side making 23 for no loss.
New Zealand play another three-day game against an India 'A' side before the two Tests in Ahmedabad (October 8-12) and Mohali (October 16-20) and a one-day tri-series also featuring Australia.
