Haryana beat J & K

Hosts Haryana defeated visitors Jammu and Kashmir by eight wickets in the Ranji Trophy Group 'A' match played at Maharaja Aggarsain stadium at Rohtak on Wednesday.

The 105-run sixth wicket partnership between Jammu and Kashmir skipper Dhruv Mahajan and Majid Dar enabled the visitors to score a respectable total of 309 runs and helped their side prevent Haryana from scoring a bonus point in the match.

Haryana secured four points from the win.

Jammu and Kashmir resumed batting at their overnight score of 229 for 5 in the second innings on the final day.

Mahajan (63), Dar (50) and Vijay Sharma (34) were the main scorers for Jammu and Kashmir, while for Haryana Gaurav Vashisth (6/102) was the most successful bowler.

Needing 102 runs for victory, Haryana achieved the target losing two wickets mere, with the help of skipper Jitender Singh (56) and Chetan Sharma (33) who scored 84 runs in partnership for the first wicket.

For Jammu and Kashmir, Khajuria claimed two wickets, Vashistha claimed 12 wicket -- six in each innings -- in the match.
