Baroda draws with Punjab

A crucial first innings lead of 35 runs against Punjab enabled hosts Baroda to secure two points as the four-day Ranji Trophy tie ended in a draw at Vadodara on Wednesday.
Resuming at their overnight score of 323 for eight, Punjab batsmen could add just 11 runs before being bowled out for 334 in their first innings replying to Baroda's 369.
Medium pacer Rakesh Patel was the chief wicket-taker for the hosts claiming five wickets.
Baroda, who piled 369 runs in their first essay, made 247 runs losing six wickets before play was called off after eight mandatory overs.
Shatrunjay Gaekwad, son of the former India player, coach and selector Anshuman Gaekwad, made a brilliant 72 while he was ably supported by Rishikesh Parab (56).
