India 'A' toil against Glamorgan
July 25, 2003 23:44 IST
India 'A' continued their spineless batting as they were bowled out for a paltry 165 in their first innings on the second day of their three-day match against Glamorgan at Swansea on Friday.
Rain delayed the start of play for the best part of the morning, but when the tourists resumed at 149 for 6, they lost four quick wickets for the addition of just 16 runs and were all out for 165 in 60 overs.
Overnight unbeaten batsman Parthiv Patel was the first to be dismissed, bowled by Stuart Thomas for 5.
Thomas then cleaned up the tail, picking up all the wickets to fall, to finish with 4 for 47.
Glamorgan began on a steady note, but soon lost quick wickets.
Aavishkar Salvi struck the first blow as opening batsman Jonathan Hughes was caught by Vijay Bharadwaj for 10 with the score reading 22.
Amit Bhandari then struck two quick blows to send back Ian Thomas and Michael Powell to reduce the hosts to 35 for 3.
L Balaji then bowled Daniel Cherry to leave Glamorgan struggling at 55 for 4.
But by stumps on Day 2, Glamorgan progressed to 104 for 4, thanks to stubborn resistance from Adrian Shaw (27) and Mark Wallace (24), who were involved in a partnership of 49 runs.
The hosts trail by 61 runs with six first innings wickets in hand.
