J P Yadav sends UP reeling

December 02, 2003 20:30 IST

Railways' bowlers made amends for their batsmen's failure by skittling Uttar Pradesh out for a paltry 71 runs in their Elite Group 'A' Ranji Trophy match in Kanpur on Tuesday.

J P Yadav's medium pace proved too hot to handle for the home batsmen as they struggled to put runs on the board. The Railways bowler returned with impressive figures of 5 for 27.

Railways were dismissed for 137 in their first innings on day one of the match yesterday.

Uttar Pradesh's top scorer was captain Jyoti Yadav, who made 28.

At close on day two, Raiwlays were 145 for 6, stretching their overall lead to 211 runs.

J P Yadav also came good with the bat, making 37, with the help of three fours and a six.

At close, Shreyas Khanolkar (10) and Sudhir Wankhede (2) were at the crease.
