Australia top inaugural one-day rankings

Australia were named as the leading one-day side in the world when the inaugural ICC one-day international rankings were released on Thursday.

The world champions, who also top the Test rankings, head the first official assessments of the relative strength of all 10 Test-playing nations plus Kenya.

South Africa are second, as they are in the Test table, while 1996 world champions Sri Lanka are third ahead of Pakistan.

Bangladesh's appalling record in one-dayers -- they have lost their last 23 matches since beating Pakistan in a 'dead rubber' match at the 1999 World Cup -- means they are bottom under Kenya.

The rankings will be updated after every one-day international played between the 11 teams.

Rankings with points:

1. Australia 128
2. South Africa 120
3. Sri Lanka 117
4. Pakistan 115
5. India 106
6. England 96
7. West Indies 94
8. New Zealand 91
9. Zimbabwe 67
10. Kenya 22
11. Bangladesh 11
