I like to dominate the
bowling: Khanolkar

After scoring an explosive century on the second day of the three-day match against the West Indies, Railways batsman Shreyas Khanolkar declared he is an attacking batsman and enjoys dominating the bowling.

"I like to dominate the bowling from the start and this is the way I play," said Khanolkar, after hitting 102 runs off just 92 balls as Railways reached 179 for one in response to the West Indies' first innings total of 449 for eight declared.

Khanolkar was a surprise choice for the opening slot along with Murali Kartik, as both normally come way down the order.

The 19-year-old said he was happy to have been given the opportunity to open the innings.

"I usually come seven-down. As some of the seniors were not playing this match, my skipper, Abhay Sharma, asked me if I could open the innings with Murali and I immediately agreed.

"I was not under any kind of pressure while opening the batting," said the batsman, who put on 167 runs for the first wicket with Kartik, who was unbeaten on 72 at the end of the day's play.

"I am very happy with the way I batted against the West Indian bowlers. Only Cameron Cuffy needed to be watched very carefully," he added.

Former selection committee chairman Chandu Borde, who watched the proceedings from the stands, was impressed with Khanolkar's batting.

"It is one of the best innings I have seen in recent times and I think it is perhaps one of the fastest hundreds against a visiting team.

"He played all cricketing shots and it was a treat to watch the youngster in action," Borde said.
