  • The Indira Gandhi Muncipal Corporation Stadium became the 36th ground and the 32nd city to host a LOI match in India

  • Virender Sehwag was appearing his 50th LOI match. He become the 31st Indian to do so.

  • The partnership of 109 runs between Marlon Samuels and Ricardo Powell just moves ahead of the previous best for the 5th wicket for the West Indies against India, which was the 108 run stand between Carl Hooper and Gus Logie at Gwalior on 222-1-1988.

  • Playing in his 36th match, Samuels made his maiden hundred of his LOI career. His previous highest was the 68 he made against Zimbabwe at Adelaide on 25-1-2001.

  • Samuels now becomes the first batsman in international cricket to record both his maiden first-class and limited-over hundreds in an international match. Samuels, who made his maiden first-class century in the Calcutta Test match earlier this month now also has the distinction of scoring a maiden century of his career a limited over match in an international. Before this match, Samuels had appeared in 21 other limited over matches, but has never managed a three figure score, although he has made four scores in the fifties.

  • Samuels' 73-ball hundred was the fourth quickest by a West Indian batsman in LOIs.

  • Samuels (108 not out) became the only fourth West Indian after Clive Lloyd, Viv Richards and Carl Hooper (who has done it twice) to record a three-figure innings while batting at number five in LOIs. Incidentally, the previous highest score by a West Indian against India at number five was the unbeaten 76 by Carl Hooper at Bridgetown on 29-5-2002.

  • Samuels also becomes the fourth batsman to score a hundred at number five against India. New Zealand's Chris Cairns (on two occasions), England's Robin Smith and Australian Michael Bevan are the others to do so.

  • Samuels now also has the distinction of scoring the 100th hundred against India, who become the first team in LOI history to concede 100 hundreds. For the record, New Zealand has conceded the most - 87 hundreds - after India.

  • Jermaine Lawson (4-57) became the first bowler in this series to capture a four-wicket haul. The previous best bowling performance in this series was the 3-24 by Ajit Agarkar at Jodhpur on 21-11-2002.

  • The 135 run loss was India's second biggest margin of defeat in terms of runs in any LOI match at home. The home team had lost to Pakistan by 143 runs at Jaipur on 24-3-1999.

  • For the record, West Indies' biggest win over India in terms of runs before this one was by 104 runs at Jamshedpur on 7-12-1983.

  • This was India's only second bilateral series loss since 1987-88. During this period its only other series loss came against Australia (2-3) in 2001.
