India vs West Indies - Sixth ODI at Jodhpur

  • The last time India played a LOI match without the services of both Sourav Ganguly and Sachin Tendulkar was against Sri Lanka at the Premadasa Stadium, Colombo on 28-7-2001. India had also won the match but by seven wickets.

  • Reetinder Singh Sodhi was making a come-back to the Indian side after missing 31 matches in between. He last appeared in the Durban final of the tri-series against South Africa on 26-10-2001.

  • Chris Gayle (27) when on 14, became the 12th West Indian and the 102nd batsman in LOIs to reach the 2000-run mark. Gayle was playing in his 58th match and 56th innings of his career. He now has 2013 runs to his credit.

  • Meanwhile, Gayle also becomes the fifth West Indian all-rounder to score 2000-plus runs and take 40-plus wickets in LOIs. He joins Viv Richards (6721 runs and 118 wickets in 187 matches), Carl Hooper (5650 and 190 in 220) and Phil Simmons (3675 and 83 in 143) and Jimmy Adams (2204 and 43 wickets in 127). Gayle now has 2013 runs and 45 wickets in 58 matches.

  • Playing in his 4th match and with just one wicket to his credit prior to this match, Murali Kartik (3-36 in 10 overs) registered his best bowling figures of his career.

  • Ajit Agarkar's 3-24 in 9 overs is now the best bowling at this venue surpassing the previous best of 3-36 by Kartik in this match, which in turn had bettered the 3-43 (in 10 overs) by part time left-arm spinner Grant Flower of Zimbabwe on 8-12-2000.

  • Virender Sehwag (18) when on 8, became the third batsman after Saurav Gamguly (1100 in 30 matches) and South Africa Herschelle Gibbs (1034 runs in 27 matches) to aggregate 1000 runs during this calendar year. Sehwag now has 1010 runs in 27 matches.

  • Ricardo Powell's three catches equals the West Indian record for the most catches by a West Indian fielder against India. The record is now jointly held by three other West Indian fielders (Viv Richards - three times; Richie Richardson and Nehemiah Perry) and Powell.

  • Playing in his 108th match, Ridley Jacobs became the second West Indian keeper, after Jeff Dujon (204 dismissals in 167 matches) to take 150 dismissals. His catch of Reetinder Singh Sodhi enabled him to reach this lankmark. Jacobs, now has 128 catches and 22 stumpings to his credit. Incidentally, he also becomes the 11th keeper in LOI history to take 150 dismissals.

  • Vasbert Drakes' 3-38 in 10 overs, was his best figures of his career in 13 matches. He previous best was the 3-55 in 9 overs during this series at Nagpur on 9-11-2002.

  • This win was Rahul Dravid's third as captain in as many matches. He is now just behind Australian Adam Gilchrist, who has a 100% record of winning all the four matches he has captained so far.

  • Ajit Agarkar won his sixth man of the match award in his 106th match. This was his first such award against the West Indies. He previous awards came against Sri Lanka (twice) New Zealand, Zimbabwe and Kenya.
