Sehwag declared fit
Dashing batsman Virendra Sehwag, out of action after sustaining a shoulder injury during the second Test against Zimbabwe in early March, was on Wednesday declared fit, thus paving the way for his inclusion in the
Indian squad for the forthcoming one-day series against the West Indies.
"Sehwag has passed the fitness test. He is very agile and
perfect... he has done very well... he has done a very good
job," Board of Control for Cricket in India-appointed physio Arjun Singh Rana told
reporters after subjecting the batsman to a series of fitness
tests in Bangalore.
Rana submitted his report on Sehwag's fitness to BCCI secretary Niranjan Shah on Wednesday evening.
Sehwag, Mohd Kaif, Yuvraj Singh and Ajit Agarkar, the
four players in the running for inclusion in the one-day
squad, will train at the National Cricket Academy in Bangalore till
May 14, Shah said.
The Indian team for the one-day series in West Indies
would be announced on May 14.
Meanwhile, the India 'A' team, which will tour Sri Lanka
from May 10, concluded their three-day camp at the M
Chinnaswamy stadium in Bangalore on Wednesday evening.
India 'A' coach Yashpal Sharma expressed satisfaction
over the camp and voiced confidence over the team performing
well in the island nation, where the Indians would play three
'Test' matches and three limited-overs matches.
The India 'A' team leaves for Sri Lanka on Thursday.
