West Indies could be on their way up

While the 3-1 home triumph against New Zealand must make the West Indies feel better, they are still at the eighth place in the Rediff ODI ratings. But the gap between the West Indies (35.47) and seventh-placed New Zealand (36.74) has narrowed. If you consider also that WI had a more than even chance of winning the first (abandoned) ODI, and that the D/L method set the WI a seemingly less than fair target in the fourth (lost) ODI, it appears just possible that the West Indies are beginning their long-awaited upward march.

By winning that thrilling second ODI against Australia, Pakistan will gain a little (beating Australia in Australia is always profitable). But even if Pakistan were to make it 2-1 (doesn't appear too probable!), they would still stay fourth, a little behind Sri Lanka. The two possible scenarios in the Australia-Pakistan series are shown below in Table G.
